"The Net" is the 17 episode of 2 season of the TV series "Lexx".

Summary[]
Eventually the crew discovers they are still ensnared, that the web has control over the LEXX and is also in Stanley's brain!
Plot[]
The crew learn that the only way to escape Mantrid is to flee to the Dark Zone, the only remaining portal is at the exact centre of the universe, Kai warns them that many bizarre and improbable things exist there though.
A sinister, web-like alien creature with long tendrils captures the Lexx and possesses the ship's hapless captain, Stanley Tweedle. The ship's robot, 790, attempts to alert the crew that something is wrong with Stan, but by now they've all gotten so used to 790 abusing Stan that nobody takes 790's warnings about Stan seriously.
Eventually the crew realize that the Lexx itself has been possessed by the alien creature and they have been deceived into thinking that they had already escaped the alien, when in fact they were still captives. The crew locates and destroys a portion of the spider alien that was onboard and attached to the Lexx's brain, allowing them to clearly see and blast their way out of captivity.
Additional Information[]
- The Web tells the story in a relatively straightforward manner, while The Net fills in the background material, explaining various plot threads and introducing others. The two episodes share almost entirely the same footage, suggesting that they are simply different edits (perhaps The Net is a "director's cut").
