Summary[]
Stanley is searching for the Pleasure Transport Celes, which he previously sailed on while serving the Heretics. But a trap has been set for Stanley there—the Committee of Retribution has long been hunting him for the deaths of many inhabitants of the Reform planets. As a notorious archtraitor, he will stand trial, and Chief Prosecutor Jihana is seeking to punish him with a long and painful death. Kai agrees to defend Stanley in a desperate attempt to save him from the death sentence.
Plot[]
Unsatisfied with his visit to the "Luvliner," Stan directs Lexx to another space brothel he had visited years earlier in search of pleasure. The pleasure transport Celes once served him free of charge as a heretic from Ostral B, and he expects a good reception again.
There, however, he is ambushed by a task force of Planet Reform, who have long sought him, calling him an "arch-traitor" and planning to bring him to trial. He is accused of destroying 94 Reform worlds that opposed the Divine Order, and the deaths of 685,304,000,000 people. Stan's guilt lies in the fact that he did not commit suicide during his mission, but quietly waited until he fell into enemy hands.
Xev and Kai are invited to the trial as observers. Stan is assigned a defense attorney from among the assistant prosecutors, but he soon refuses to represent him.
Stan's memory is scanned and presented to the court. Ten years ago, he was tasked with delivering classified information to a heretic base, but upon his arrival, the base was attacked by the flagship of His Divine Shadow. Stan's ship had been drifting in space for a long time and needed urgent assistance, but by mistake, Stan fell into the hands of mercenaries. They kidnapped him and extracted the information hidden in his tooth, selling it to the Divine Order. These were secret Amino Acid Codes, which contained the security codes for the Planetary Reform defense system.
Xev believes Stan must be saved, as he believes in his innocence. However, Kai, being an impartial undead, believes there is no reason to obstruct a fair trial. As the trial unfolds, Kai becomes concerned about the prosecutor's actions and agrees to defend Stanley in a last-ditch effort to save him from the death penalty. At first, the trial seems fair, and the arguments are heard. Stan and Kai discuss how they destroyed the Divine Shadow, thus atoning for his guilt. This fact remains in effect, but Stan is still sentenced to death—quick and painless, not torturous. However, Chief Prosecutor Jihana intends to secretly violate the sentence and execute Stanley in the most excruciating manner possible.
When one of the prosecutor's assistants reveals Jihana's intentions to Kai and Xev, Kai intervenes and saves Stanley. They return to the Lexx together.
The Lexx turns around and abandons the pleasure transport Celes, and Mantrid Drones swoop in after it, consuming the transport and its crew.
